What is your “day job?”
I am the Arts in the Gap Coordinator and Theatre Assistant at Lincoln Memorial University.

Why did you become involved with GOTG?
I wanted to make a difference in my community. I saw all the great events and activities that GOTG were doing, and I knew I wanted to be a part of this team. I loved that they were creating events and opportunities to bring folks into town and engage with the community. Being from a small town myself, I know the importance of supporting local businesses and giving folks in the community things to do. I am happy to say that Guardians of the Gap fosters these relationships and truly tries to protect, promote, and preserve the town of Cumberland Gap.

What do you feel is the most exciting thing on the horizon for Cumberland Gap?
I am especially excited about all the work being done to bring FolkFest back. FolkFest is a festival that celebrates the arts and culture of Appalachia by bringing in traditional Appalachian folk art artisans, artists, and musicians. I think it is so important to share the crafts and culture of Appalachia with the next generation of Appalachians. This event is doing just that, and it makes me so happy to see people of all ages engaging with traditional Appalachian arts. I think this is a really important event, and I am so glad to be a part of the team that helps plan it!

What is your favorite activity to do in Cumberland Gap and why?
My favorite activity is to sit at Gap Creek Coffee House with a good book and an iced coffee. It is one of the most relaxing places in town and is one of the things that made me fall in love with the area. I love being able to take a moment and relax with the sound of the rushing water, a good book, and a great coffee.
