What is your “day job?”
I am the Executive Director of the Office of Research, Grants, and Sponsored Programs at Lincoln Memorial University.

Why did you become involved with GOTG?
As a lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Cumberland Gap is the place I went to for “adventure,” and I want other people to fall in love with the town just as I did. I have climbed up the rocks at the creek beside the Iron Furnace more times than I can count, and festivals in the town were always a childhood favorite. Protecting that part of the enchantment of Cumberland Gap is why I joined. In my role as board member, I assist with reviewing, writing, and submitting grant applications. I will also be managing the social media pages. I serve on the FolkFest planning committee, which is my favorite Guardians event!

What do you feel is the most exciting thing on the horizon for Cumberland Gap?
For as long as I can remember, the community has talked about getting visitors’ attention on Cumberland Gap – whether it be when signage was being installed as the Cumberland Gap Tunnel Authority came into being, or when WBIR’s Live at 5 visited when I was a tween. I really think that Cumberland Gap has been drawing attention in the last four years, and we’re in a good place to show what makes this a special area.

What is your favorite activity to do in Cumberland Gap and why?
You may still catch me climbing the rocks at the Iron Furnace and pulling out a notebook to write and/or draw. There is nowhere I feel more peaceful.
